The truth is achieving a goal requires a lot of hard work and passion. I started with accessories and during my journey and got the opportunity to design many products and work with the fashion industry in NYC. I had hope and faith in God and wanted to be successful like my dad, whom I always admired.
He was a highly successful businessman who imported a variety of products from dinnerware to Rolls Royce cars. I always admired him. When mom passed away I use to sit and listen to the stories and I would think to myself I would get a chance in life to become like him. He was well praised in industry and even Dhirubhai Ambani was my dad’s friend in Aden.
From Accessories to Home Furnishing where I remember once we were in Hawaii for a day and whilst driving around and I told Jay to stop near one shop which was very small. I went inside and bought just one postcard and we were on our way to India. We visited our vendor’s factory who are now our close friends Kishore & Meena and asked them to make hand-painted samples on 100% silk. A standard sham and the top of the bed beddings. These same designs were later picked up by Bloomingdale’s catalog buyer and other major retailers. It was the teamwork of Raymond and myself, he did the placement sketch for the bedding ensemble and we both decided on colors that turned out to be really beautiful.
